OUXI GT2000 - Throttle & the legal facts
Transparent about speed and regulations
Many sellers of the OUXI GT2000 say no more than that the bike is limited to 25 km/h. What they leave out: how the throttle is set up, and whether you can switch between limited and derestricted yourself. That is exactly what determines whether you ride legally on public roads.
How does this work in practice?
In the Netherlands, an electric bike on public roads may:
-
Provide assistance up to a maximum of 25 km/h
-
Have a throttle that works only up to 6 km/h (walk assist)
On some GT2000s in the fatbike market the throttle stays active above that limit when the settings are not configured correctly.
That is why we supply our GT2000:
✔ Delivered limited to the NL/BE standard
✔ With throttle and killswitch included as standard
✔ With clear guidance on use and regulations
One GT2000, two modes: how the killswitch works
We now sell the GT2000 in a single version only, for 1,499 euros and in three colours: black, orange and green. A separate 25 km/h version no longer exists, so there is nothing to choose. In limited mode the throttle runs to 6 km/h and the pedal assist to 25 km/h. Derestricted, the throttle and the pedal assist both go up to 60 km/h. You switch between those two modes yourself with the supplied killswitch, without tools and without opening up the bike. The throttle and the killswitch are included in the price; you pay nothing extra for them.
What does this mean for you?
Do you want to ride legally on public roads?
Then your bike must meet the 25 km/h standard and the throttle may only work as walk assist (up to 6 km/h). In limited mode the GT2000 meets that requirement.
Put it in derestricted mode with the killswitch? Then that is permitted solely on private or enclosed grounds.
We always advise responsible use and compliance with Dutch and Belgian law.
Why we explain this
The fatbike market advertises heavily on speed.
That is why we choose to:
-
Be clear
-
Avoid misleading claims
-
Inform you correctly
So you know exactly where you stand.
