How to spot a fake H6C display? (Within 30 seconds!)
The market is flooded with imitation H6C displays, and many online shops sell them without mentioning they are fakes. The result? You get error codes that make no sense, a display that works differently from your motor, and unnecessary repair costs.
Fortunately, you can unmask a fake H6C super fast. With the checks below, you'll know within 30 seconds whether you're dealing with an original or a counterfeit.
1. Does code 3330 appear? Then you 100% have a fake screen.
Original H6C displays never use code 3330.
If you see it, there's no need to look further; it's an imitation and completely unreliable.
2. Check the arrow marking (the most reliable test)
This is the most foolproof way to verify an H6C display:
-
White arrow = original
-
Black arrow = imitation
You always see black arrows on fake screens.
3. Look at the color of the connector
The connector color is another clear indicator:
-
Light green = original H6C
-
Dark green = fake
Fake screens may copy the shape, but never the correct shade of green.
4. How many assistance levels does the screen have?
An original H6C display should only have 3 assistance levels.
Does your display show:
-
5 levels? Then it's running fake software.
That means: no proper communication with your controller → risk of damage.
5. Are the error codes incorrect? Then it's an imitation.
Fake H6C displays throw random error codes on the screen.
You literally cannot diagnose any fatbike with them.
The software is simply worthless.
6. A correct repair is only possible with an original display.
There is one fixed rule in the fatbike world:
👉 To repair = first install an original H6C display.
Why? Because otherwise, every measurement, error code, or diagnosis becomes completely unreliable. Mechanics never use imitation H6Cs; they only cause additional problems.
Want to check yourself? Keep this checklist handy.
-
❌ Code 3330
-
❌ Black arrow
-
❌ Dark green connector
-
❌ 5 levels in the menu
-
❌ Error codes that are different from normal
-
❌ Display reacts differently from your motor
One incorrect check = imitation.
