Autumn Deals on derestriction kits

During the Autumn Deals the derestrictable parts take centre stage: the controllers and displays that get your Ouxi or QMWheel fatbike out of its factory restriction. Everything comes from our own stock, and ordered before 23:59 means delivered tomorrow. Not sure which part fits your model? Below you will find it listed brand by brand.

What is a derestriction kit?

No chip and no software trick, but two parts that together decide how fast your fatbike is allowed to go:

• The controller regulates how much current flows from the battery to the motor. A derestrictable version delivers more amps, often 21A, and drives the motor harder.
• The display determines which modes you can select and whether you can switch back to restricted.

On most models you need both. Without a matching controller, a derestrictable display still runs into the old limit. Both are plug and play: the same connectors, no cutting of cables.

Which derestriction kit fits your fatbike?

Ouxi V8, H9 and C80

For the Ouxi V8 and C80 you take the derestrictable controller with the red motor plug from this collection, together with an HC80 display. That display comes with and without NFC and in a 36V version for the C80 Mini and C63 Mini. A first-generation V8 or H9 takes the V8/H9 display, and the Ouxi 2.0 takes the M5 display.

QMWheel V20, V20 Pro and S20

The V20 controller with the red motor plug can be derestricted up to 45 km/h and fits the V20, V20 Pro and S20. If there is a black plug on your motor cable, you have the smaller motor and you take the black version, which goes up to 32 km/h. So always check first which colour plug you have. The matching display is the H6C.

QMWheel V20 Cross

We do not sell the V20 Cross as a complete fatbike, but we do sell the parts. The derestrictable V20 Cross controller costs 98 euros, has a red motor plug, delivers 21A at 500W and can be derestricted up to 45 km/h. It does not go any higher. The regular V20 controllers fit the V20 Cross as well, with the same 45 km/h in red or 32 km/h in black.

Ouxi GT2000

The GT2000 is the fastest model we carry: 1499 euros, in black, orange and green, with one version per colour. The throttle and killswitch are included in that price. Restricted, the throttle does 6 km/h and the pedal assist runs up to 25 km/h. Derestricted, both go up to 60 km/h, and you switch over with the killswitch supplied. You can also order one separately: the derestrictable GT2000 controller costs 179 euros.

Fitting it yourself or having it done

For most people, replacing a display or controller is a half-hour job. Take the battery out first, lay the connectors side by side so you can see which one goes where, and never force a connector. After fitting, check that the lights, the throttle and the pedal assist all work. Rather have it done for you? The help page explains how to arrange that.

What is allowed on the road

On public roads the limit is 25 km/h pedal assist. Riding derestricted is only allowed on private property. That is why the killswitch is not an extra but the part you use most often. There is no helmet requirement on an ordinary fatbike, but at high speed on private property a helmet is simply sensible.

Frequently asked questions about derestricting a fatbike

What do I need to derestrict my fatbike?

A derestrictable controller and a derestrictable display. The controller handles the power, the display handles the modes and switching back. On most models you need both.

How fast does my fatbike go once derestricted?

That depends on the model. The V20 family, including the V20 Cross, goes up to 45 km/h with the red plug and up to 32 km/h with the black one. Only the GT2000 reaches 60 km/h.

What exactly does the killswitch do?

It lets you switch between restricted and derestricted. The GT2000 comes with the killswitch supplied, so that on the road you simply ride at 25 km/h pedal assist and 6 km/h throttle.

How many km/h does the V20 Cross do?

Up to 45 km/h, with the derestrictable controller with the red motor plug, 21A and 500W. The 60 km/h you sometimes read about belongs to the GT2000, not to the V20 Cross.

Do you sell the V20 Cross as a fatbike?

No, only the parts. You will find the controller and the other separate parts in the webshop as usual.

Is the throttle included with the GT2000?

Yes. The price of 1499 euros includes the throttle and the killswitch. So you do not pay extra to be able to switch between restricted and derestricted.

Red or black motor plug, how do I know which one I have?

Follow the thick cable from the motor to the connector and look at the colour. Red is the large motor, black the small one. If you are in doubt, send us a photo.

What does a derestrictable controller cost?

From 98 euros for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, up to 179 euros for the GT2000 controller.

Can I fit it myself?

Usually yes. Everything is plug and play, so you do not have to cut or solder anything. Allow half an hour per part.

Am I allowed to ride derestricted on public roads?

No. There, 25 km/h pedal assist is the maximum. Riding derestricted is only allowed on private property. With the killswitch you set the bike back in a couple of seconds.
